After our multi-sectoral assessment in the South, where unemployment runs high and essential services are out of reach, we launched a 10-day program that trained 26 youth from the South in Tripoli in pump repair, carpentry, and household electricity.
For years, farmers abandoned their land because repairing a pump meant traveling 350 km and paying thousands, while families struggled to afford basic carpentry and electrical work.
Today, for the first time, these critical skills exist within the community itself, reviving agriculture, cutting household costs, and proving that local solutions can transform entire municipalities.
OUR BIGGEST IMPACT: TAHALA MUNICIPAL CARPENTRY WORKSHOP REOPENED FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE 1980s.
Is a volunteer education and training journey that equips Libyan youth with the skills, values, and experiences to become true community leaders. From the first day, participants step into the world of civic engagement and experience the role of non-profits at the heart of society.
Through a three-month training and field program, participants receive structured workshops in civic engagement and project management while working side by side with our team on real community projects. Their role evolves from support to initiative, and from following to leading.
Our goal is to build a committed youth base that ensures Rehla’s sustainability from within. We aim to reach 1,000 young men and women by the end of 2026, preparing a new generation capable of driving community initiatives and representing Rehla’s values.
In the final stage, each participant presents their own community initiative designed to serve underserved areas of Libya. Promising ideas are supported and developed further, transforming youth creativity into tangible solutions that extend beyond the program itself.
The Rehla Retreats are bi-annual camps designed to empower young Libyans through immersive, skills-based, and community-driven experiences. Held separately for young men and young women, the retreats combine training, mentorship, and creative activities in a safe and inspiring environment. Each retreat is also a sustainable model that supports the continuation of Rehla’s development programs.
1 YOUNG MEN’S RETREAT
A bi-annual camp for young men (18–35) where each edition tackles a different theme. The latest
retreat trained 44 participants through practical workshops, inspiring talks with
Libyan entrepreneurs, and peer-to-peer networking, building skills, leadership, and lasting support
networks.
2 GIRLS’ RETREAT
A bi-annual camp for young women (18–35) providing a safe and supportive space for growth and
self-expression. The latest retreat hosted 37 participants, combining skills training
in leadership and rights awareness with creative activities like art, while fostering networking and
peer support.
The Be the Difference program is a monthly platform that inspires and empowers youth through lectures and interactive workshops. Each session opens the door for young people to explore new topics, discover themselves, and strengthen leadership mindsets that drive change in their communities.
The program is also a strategic awareness tool for Rehla, where we highlight our development work and shed light on the realities of underserved areas in Libya. By linking knowledge with lived community challenges, Be the Difference nurtures a more aware and resilient generation while amplifying Rehla’s mission nationwide.
